Ammo Storage | Fenix Ammo

Ammo storage comes down to two schools: rigid steel for the shelf and welded pouches for the range bag. We stock both. Genuine military surplus ammo cans in .30 cal, .50 cal, and 40mm, and Magpul DAKA pouches, from the 3.5 liter Takeout rated for 1,000 rounds of 9mm to the small Window Pouch with a translucent panel so you can see what is inside without opening it.

The DAKA Pouches

The Takeout is a weather resistant 3.5 liter kit bag in reinforced polymer fabric with RF welded seams. Magpul rates it for 1,000 rounds of 9mm, or 500 of .45 ACP or .223/5.56. The small Window Pouch (250 rounds of 9mm) adds a genuine YKK water resistant zipper and that translucent window. Ammunition not included. Get serious, guys.

Steel When It Sits, Fabric When It Moves

Cans win for stacked long term storage: heavy gauge steel, watertight gasket seals, decades of proven service. Pouches win for grab and go organization and tool duty. Most shooters end up with both: cans on the shelf by caliber, a loaded pouch in the range bag.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much ammo fits in a DAKA Takeout?

Magpul rates it at 1,000 rounds of 9mm, 500 of .45 ACP, or 500 of .223/5.56. The small Window Pouch holds roughly a quarter of that.

Are DAKA pouches waterproof?

Water resistant. RF welded seams and, on the Window Pouch, a YKK AquaGuard zipper keep contents dry in most wet environments.

Should I buy a can or a pouch?

Both do different jobs: steel cans for stacked shelf storage, DAKA pouches for the range bag and truck. Start with wherever your ammo actually lives.
